MARCH is the month of Daylight Savings Time, St Patricks Day, the first day of Spring, and this year it is also the month of the Muslim Holy Days of Ramadan, the Hindu festival of Holi and the Christian Easter.
This month look for longer and warmer days; St Patricks Day Parades in all boroughs; Easter, Ramadan and Holi celebrations, as well as other weekend things to do.

This Bronx Arts Group sponsors and organizes various exhibits & performances in the Bronx
Currently & Upcoming. There is almost always some workshop or open call for grant money and shows going on.
Description. Founded in 1962 the Bronx Council on the Arts is determined to advance cultural equity in the Bronx, especially for artists of color, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. They do this through various skills development programs and the allocation of grant funds.

October 14, 2023 from 11 am to 7 pm the first Universal Hip Hop Museum Tour. SOLD OUT. The tour continues to a number of other major cities around the nation, ending in Miami on December 9th, 2023.
Description. The Bronx is the birthplace of Hip Hop in 1973 when D.J. Kool first did a performance in the 1500 block of Sedgewick Avenue in the Morris Heights neighborhood of the Bronx. A section of Sedgewick Avenue was rechristened Hip Hop Boulevard in 2016.
Location. The Universal Hip Hop Museum is located at 610 Exterior Street in the Bronx. Sometime in 2024 it will move into the Bronx Point Building at 575 Exterior Street in the Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx.

The Point CDC - Community & Cultural Development Things to do This Weekend Bx
This Bronx Community Center Organizes Various Types of Community Arts, Performance and Human Development Projects
See Open Hydrant Theater Company for a play in the last half of this month of October 2023.
Description. The Point [CDC] Community Development Corporation is dedicated to "... youth development and the cultural and economic revitalization of the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx ...". They also offer various programs at various times, and most are free or low cost, but sometimes there's a charge for admission.
The Point partners with the Open Hydrant Theater Company, which you can view in the theater section later this month [October 2023]. They have a performance on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, October 20, 21 & 22, and 27, 28 & 29, 2023.

Description. The Bartow Pell Mansion is a mid 19th century mansion built on land once owned by Thomas Pell, who purchased it in 1654. Robert Bartow, a Pell descendant, purchased 30 acres of the land in 1836 and proceeded to built what is now known as the Bartow Pell Mansion on it. The site hosts a number of musical, theatrical, arts and historic programs throughout the year.

Mulchfest in NYC Parks 2024
Saturday & Sunday, January 6 & 7, 2024 from 10 am - 2 pm. This is the last weekend of Mulchfest. Mulchfest is an NYC Parks Department program to recycle Christmas trees and wreaths by mulching them and then either keeping the mulch to be used in NYC Parks or returning the mulch to the tree donor for them to use in their garden or house plants. The Mulchfest sites in each borough are: Brook Park in the Bronx, Prospect Park in Brooklyn, Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan, Juniper Valley Park in Queens and Cloves Lake Park on Staten Island.

The exhibit is described as follows, "... a selection of portraits by Puerto Rican street photographer Sophie Rivera ... one sees individuals looking directly at the camera. Facing the photographer’s lens, each subject holds the viewer’s gaze directly, imparting a bit of themselves to their audience. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Sophie Rivera’s portraits highlight the under-represented communities of New York City. The same communities En Foco continues to serve ...". Admission free.
February 4, 2024 beginning at 7 pm - 48 Hours en El Bronx. The performance is described as follows, " ... 30 Latinx theater artists gather for an intensive theater-making marathon, creating six new short plays. This year the plays are inspired by the iconic music from Bronx hip hop artists Sha-Rock, Big Pun, Remy Ma, Melle Mel, Cardi B, and KRS-One. We celebrate The Bronx by digging into the music of these six pioneers of hip hop, emblematic of a Bronx sound that has shaped the genre and continues to inspire hip-hop lovers world wide ...".
Our 30 artists are divided into six teams, each consisting of one playwright, one director and three actors. Each team is assigned one hip hop artist and one of their most iconic songs. Then, over an immersive period of 48 hours, six new 10-minute plays are written, rehearsed and performed live, off-book, at our Bronx venue for one night only.
