Halloween occurs on a Tuesday this year. The Bronx Halloween party celebrations begin mid month leading into Halloween weekend running through to Halloween day itself. Historically the temperatures average about 65 during the day and 50 during the evening around Halloween.

Halloween is one big costume party, where the theatrical side of people, is given a one day opening. Halloween provides people the opportunity to create and play roles they have wanted to play, that is repressed during their daily lives. Will we see the Doctor or the Jekyll side of their personality or something completely out there?

In the photo at right is an actor at ID Theater in Mott Haven who performed in a play which was a part of the 14th annual city-wide, Celebrate Mexico Now in 2017. Professional actors are paid to assume and perform roles, but on Halloween it's an all-volunteer, unpaid, theatrical free-for-all ... but that very chaos of creativity is what makes Halloween in the Bronx [and everywhere else] so much fun.

38th Annual South Bronx Halloween Parade & Party in Longwood / Foxhurst Bx NYC

Saturday, October 28, 2023 beginning at 12 noon, followed by a costume contest at 2 pm

Description. An all ages parade in costumes. In 2019 they did a Tim Burton in the Bronx theme. Historically in the costume contest they offerred prizes for kids of various age categories, including 'kids' over 55. And usually there are candy giveaways and entertainment. All are welcome. Free. Description. They describe the event as follows:

Description. This is the Annual Bronx Rising! Halloween event. This year the organization celebrates Halloween with as screening of Wolfeen. The film was made in the Bronx and Bobby Sanabria contributed much of the jazzy sound track. Tickets $10 and proof of vaccination is required.

The Gun Hill Tavern teams up with the Bronx Arts Factory to encourage folks to stop by to create a drawing for a contest winner to be announced on October 24th at 8.30 pm. The winner gets a four pack of 16 oz beers, a Gun Hill Brewery T-shirt, a ticket to a beer crafting event and a Bronx Art Factory Tote Bag. Free attend.

Description. They describe this event as follows: " ... In its second year, Adam Bierton returns for the Fall-O-Ween season finale to carve a giant pumpkin. From last year’s 2,424-lb. pumpkin, a dragon’s head emerged after 16 hours of scraping, chiseling, carving, and detailing. This year, Adam Bierton and a team of carvers return to once again transform a giant pumpkin sourced by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth into an organic masterpiece. Three of the largest pumpkins in the world are coming to NYBG. They will be on display at the Reflecting Pool and one will be carved by Adam Bierton and his team. The pumpkins are - 1) Steve Sperry – Rhode Island – 2465.5 pounds, 2) Ron Wallace – Rhode Island – 2344.5 pounds, and 3) Scott Andrusz – New York – 2245.5 pounds...".

Admission is $15 for kids, $31 students & $35 for adults. For NYC residents there's a grounds access pass option that costs $15 / $7 / $4. Kids age two and under are free.

Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum _ Halloween Haunted Houses in Pelham Bay Park near City Island in the Bronx

Wednesday thru Tuesday, October 25 - 31, 2023 from 11 am to 4 pm - Trick or Treat Trek

Description. 'Trick or Treat Trek' returns again, expanded from prior years to include multiple days, where folks go looking for treats [or tricks?] around the grounds.
